A fatal accident on a ride at an Ohio amusement park has prompted the P-N-E’s Playland park to temporarily shut down one of its rides made by the same manufacturer.
Playland spokeswoman Laura Ballance says “The Beast” is being taken offline temporarily out of an abundance of caution, while staff conduct supplemental testing.
“The Beast” is made by K-M-G, the same manufacturer that built the “Fireball” — an Ohio State Fair ride that failed yesterday, killing one person and injuring seven others.
Ballance says Playland’s rides get an annual inspection from the B-C Safety Authority, inspections from two independent ride safety experts twice each season and are also inspected twice a day by Playland staff
