Whenever the American Thanksgiving holiday comes around, I think of three things. Football, family and the classic TV show WKRP in Cincinnati. In particular the episode where the station was giving away live turkeys as a promotion. However, they didn’t really think that one through. They gave them away by dropping them out of a helicopter, all while broadcasting the event live on the radio. To this day, I still think it’s a classic part of TV culture. And the show itself is to me, like so many other of my colleagues, just one reason we got into this business of radio in the first place. So if you’re celebrating Thanksgiving today, I hope it’s a good one for you. And as God as my witness, I honestly thought turkeys could fly. LOL. Classic.
