The Department of National Defence says it’s working to reduce it’s carbon footprint by upgrading infrastructure at Canadian Forces Base Comox. The department announced it has awarded a 12.5 million dollar contract to M-C-W Custom Energy Solutions of Toronto for retrofits and upgrades to start early next year. The upgrades will be carried out at 105 facilities on the base, which the department says will reduce energy costs by nearly 250-thousand dollars a year. It says the project will help it meet its target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 40 per cent by 2025, five years ahead of schedule.
